The Smarter Thinking Project…Welcome!

Dear Reader

This is the first post in this blog – these are very exciting times! In this blog we aim to keep you up to date with developments in the investigation and application of Smarter Thinking. This first post is just an introduction to the site, and to the Smarter Thinking philosophy. After reading, why not head to the home page and check out the different sections in this website to get a feel for what we do and how we do it.

You will find updates on research progress and findings, and even some ideas for future research. Why? Because we are passionate about the use of Smarter Thinking in non-clinical domains, therefore, we hope that our ideas promote research outside of our research group.

You will also find updates on our consultancy work where we apply Smarter Thinking in sport, business, and academia. Indeed, one of the main reasons we wanted to create this website was to share our work with the wider world (not just people who read scientific articles!)

So what is Smarter Thinking? If you haven’t accessed the “Smarter Thinking” section of the website yet, go and check it out! But here, we will just provide a broad description.

Smarter Thinking brings together principles and philosophies from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and other cognitive behavioral approaches to form simple and effective performance psychology solutions. Importantly, and this is something we pride ourselves on, Smarter Thinking is an evidence-based approach to performance psychology that helps people to fulfil their potential. That is, the skills and tools we advocate stem from scientific research. Together with our experience of delivering performance psychology, this means that Smarter Thinking is well supported and effective in helping people achieve their career and life goals.

That’s enough for the sales pitch! We hope you find the website interesting and useful.

Think Smarter and prosper.

Martin
